How Point Spreads Work
If you are wagering on a team that has a (-) before the points your team must win by more than that number of points. For example if you bet on Miami -2 and the final score is Miami 21 New England 20, you lose.
If you are betting on a team without a (-) for example Miami is playing New England -3.5, that means New England must win by more than 3.5 points. You could bet on Miami and they could lose the game, but you could still win the bet. All you have to do is add (the - that you see after the opposing teams listing) to your teams final score to determine whether or not you won. For example if you bet on Miami and the final score is Miami 21 New England 24, in the above scenerio, you would win.
